Cold weather can drain batteries faster, cause condensation when you move between cold and warm rooms, and make caps, scarves and mufflers pull aids off. Keep spares warm, store aids dry, secure them under headwear and watch for ear infections and blocked ears in winter colds.

Winter does not damage hearing aids, but it makes them harder to look after. Cold reduces battery performance, moving between cold outdoors and warm indoors creates condensation, and winter clothing can knock aids off. A few small habits keep them working, and they matter most in Delhi and northern India, where winters are sharper.

Battery and charging

Keep spare batteries in a warm inner pocket, not a cold bag.
Charge rechargeable aids fully overnight and carry a power bank for long days out.
If a battery seems dead in the cold, warming it in your hands may restore it briefly.

Condensation and moisture

Walking from cold air into a warm room can leave moisture inside the aid and tubing.
Let the aids warm up gradually, and wipe them dry.

Caps, scarves and mufflers
