Your first hearing test at Prudent Hearing Solutions is free, takes about 45 minutes, and comes with no obligation to buy anything. It is a proper clinical assessment run by an RCI-registered audiologist, not a quick beep-and-guess at a chemist counter, and you leave with your results printed on an audiogram and explained to you in plain language.

We have run this test since 2004 at our clinics in Pune (Viman Nagar), Delhi (Rohini and Green Park) and Bengaluru (Jayanagar). If getting to a clinic is hard, which it often is for older parents, we bring the test to your home. Call or WhatsApp +91 9429690093, or book online, and we confirm a time that suits you.

A hearing aid manages hearing loss, it does not cure it, so the test matters. It tells you whether you actually have a loss, how much, and in which pitches, so any advice that follows is based on your ears rather than a sales target.

  • A short history chat about your hearing, general health and any ringing or past ear trouble
  • Otoscopy, where the audiologist looks inside your ear for wax, fluid or a blockage
  • Pure-tone audiometry in a sound-treated room, testing each ear one at a time
  • A speech test to check how clearly you understand words, not just hear sound
  • Your results plotted on an audiogram and explained in plain language
  • A printed report to keep, plus honest next-step advice with no pressure

What the free 45-minute test includes

The test has five parts and takes about 45 minutes. First, a short history chat about how your hearing feels day to day, any ringing, ear infections, medication or family history. Next, otoscopy, where the audiologist looks inside your ear with a light to check for wax, fluid or anything blocking the canal. Then the main test, pure tone audiometry, done in a sound-treated room: you wear headphones and press a button each time you hear a soft beep, across low and high pitches, one ear at a time. After that, a speech test to see how clearly you make out words at a normal volume, because hearing a sound and understanding a word are not the same thing. Finally, the audiologist plots your results on an audiogram and walks you through it. Our guide to understanding your audiogram explains the chart in more detail, so you can see exactly which sounds you are missing.

Who should get tested, and the everyday signs

Get tested if speech sounds muffled, if you turn the TV up louder than everyone else in the house, if you keep asking people to repeat themselves, if you lose the thread of conversation in a noisy restaurant, or if there is a constant ringing (tinnitus) in your ears. Trouble hearing on the phone, missing the doorbell, and feeling worn out after a day of straining to listen are common early signs too. Adults over 60, anyone with diabetes, and people who have worked around loud machinery should test even without obvious symptoms, because hearing usually fades slowly and the brain is good at hiding it. Our guide to the signs you need a hearing test goes through these in more detail. If any of this sounds familiar, a test settles the question one way or the other.

What to expect, step by step

Booking takes about 30 seconds by phone, WhatsApp or the form on this page, and we confirm your slot within a couple of working hours. On the day, arrive a few minutes early. There is nothing to prepare, no need to fast, and no need to stop any medicine. The audiologist runs the history chat, otoscopy, audiometry and speech test described above, then explains your audiogram while you are still in the room. You leave with a printed report you can keep or show to your doctor. If the results show a hearing loss, the audiologist talks you through your options and lets you trial a hearing aid before you decide anything. Nothing is settled the same day unless you want it to be.

Genuinely free, with no pressure to buy

The 45-minute test, the audiogram and the written report are all free, whether or not you go on to buy anything. If a hearing aid would help, you can try one on trial first, and we fit brands including Signia, Phonak, Oticon, Widex, ReSound, Starkey, Unitron and Interton at up to 30-50% off manufacturer MRP, with 0% EMI and free lifetime programming. Hearing aids are GST-exempt in India. But none of that is a condition of the test. Plenty of people come in, learn their hearing is fine, and simply go home reassured.

Home visits for seniors, and how to book

Getting an older parent to a clinic is often the hardest part, so we bring the test to you. A home visit covers the same history chat, otoscopy, audiometry and speech screening using portable, calibrated equipment, at a quiet time that suits the household. It helps seniors, anyone with limited mobility, or a family that would simply rather test at home. To book, at a clinic or at home, call or WhatsApp +91 9429690093 or use the form on this page. Our clinics are in Pune (Viman Nagar), Delhi (Rohini and Green Park) and Bengaluru (Jayanagar); see /locations for directions or /contact to reach us.

Frequently asked questions

Is the free hearing test really free, with no catch?

Yes. The 45-minute assessment, the audiogram and the written report cost nothing, and you are under no obligation to buy a hearing aid or book anything else. If your hearing turns out to be fine, you go home reassured at no charge.

How long does the hearing test take and what does it involve?

About 45 minutes. It covers a short history chat, an otoscopy to look inside your ear, pure-tone audiometry in a sound-treated room, a speech test, and your results explained on an audiogram before you leave.

How much does an audiometry test cost in India?

Prices vary between clinics, but your first audiometry test at Prudent Hearing Solutions is free. You get the full clinical assessment and a printed report without paying, and there is no separate fee to have the results explained.

Where can I book a hearing test near me?

We test at our clinics in Pune (Viman Nagar), Delhi (Rohini and Green Park) and Bengaluru (Jayanagar). Call or WhatsApp +91 9429690093, use the form on this page, or see /locations to find the nearest clinic.

Can you do a hearing test at home for elderly parents?

Yes. We offer home visits for seniors and anyone who finds it hard to travel, using portable calibrated equipment for the history, otoscopy, audiometry and speech screening. Call or WhatsApp +91 9429690093 to arrange a time that suits the household.

Will I be pushed to buy a hearing aid after the test?

No. The audiologist explains your audiogram and your options, and if a hearing aid would help you can trial one before deciding. A hearing aid manages hearing loss, it does not cure it, so honest advice matters more to us than a same-day sale.
