Both are premium AI hearing aids, but they use AI differently: Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio adds a dedicated chip that separates speech from noise, while Oticon Intent uses an always-on deep neural network with 4D sensors that read how you move. Here is which suits whom.

Quick answer

Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio uses a dedicated AI chip to separate speech from noise, which suits very loud places; Oticon Intent uses an always-on deep neural network with 4D sensors that adapt as you move, which suits active people who want a natural sound. Sphere Infinio starts at ₹5,90,000 a pair at MRP in India; Intent is quoted on request.

Key takeaways

  • Sphere Infinio: dedicated DEEPSONIC chip for speech in noise; up to 56 hours battery (Phonak).
  • Oticon Intent: DNN 2.0 plus 4D sensors (head, body, conversation, sound scene); up to 20 hours; IP68.
  • Phonak pairs with almost any phone; Intent supports LE Audio, Made for iPhone and ASHA.
  • Phonak has announced a newer Audéo EON Sphere; ask whether it has reached India.
  • For quiet days or milder loss, a mid-level aid may be enough.

Both are premium AI hearing aids, but they use AI in different ways. Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio adds a second, dedicated chip (DEEPSONIC) that separates speech from background noise in real time. Oticon Intent runs an always-on deep neural network (DNN 2.0) with 4D sensors that read your head movement, body movement and conversation to work out what you want to hear.

In short: Sphere Infinio is built for very loud, crowded places; Oticon Intent is built for active people who want a natural, full sound that adapts as they move. On Phonak's 2026 India price list, Sphere Infinio starts at ₹5,90,000 a pair. Oticon Intent is not on the price lists we hold, so we quote it on request.

How is the AI different?

Sphere Infinio treats noise as the problem to remove. When you switch on its speech-in-noise program, the DEEPSONIC chip runs a deep neural network trained to pull voices out of background noise, from any direction. It is the most direct answer we know of to "I cannot hear anyone in a busy restaurant".

Oticon Intent treats the whole sound scene as information. Its DNN 2.0 is always on, giving clearer contrast between sounds rather than muting the background, and its 4D sensors notice whether you are moving, turning to someone or talking, then change how much it focuses. Oticon reports that the 4D sensors alone improved speech understanding by 15% in its own testing.

Which is better in very noisy places?

For the loudest settings, such as weddings, family functions and crowded restaurants, Sphere Infinio's dedicated noise chip is its strength. The trade-off is battery: Phonak says heavy use of the AI feature plus streaming still leaves at least about 16 hours, against up to 56 hours in lighter use.

Intent keeps more of the surrounding sound, which many people find more natural day to day, and adapts automatically as you move between conversations. Which you prefer is personal, so hear both in a noisy setting before you decide.

Which is better for battery and size?

Phonak quotes much longer best-case battery life for Sphere Infinio, partly because it carries a slightly larger battery than Phonak's standard Audéo. Oticon Intent is rated at up to 20 hours with fast charging, and adds an IP68 rating for dust and moisture.

Phonak has also announced a newer Audéo EON Sphere with a smaller body. Ask us whether it has reached India yet before you buy; the 2026 price list we use shows Sphere Infinio.

Which is better for phones and streaming?

Phonak's universal Bluetooth pairs with almost any phone. Oticon Intent supports Bluetooth LE Audio, Made for iPhone and ASHA streaming on select Android phones, and Oticon says it is built for Auracast broadcast audio. If you use a new iPhone or a recent LE Audio Android phone, both work well; with an older Android phone, Phonak is usually simpler.

Who should choose which?

  • Choose Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio if busy, loud places are your biggest problem, long battery life matters, and your budget allows ₹5.9 lakh or more a pair at MRP.
  • Choose Oticon Intent if you lead an active, social life, prefer a natural and open sound, or want LE Audio and IP68 protection.
  • Consider neither yet if your loss is mild or your days are quiet. A mid-level aid may serve you just as well; see do AI hearing aids work better?

Our fitting room data from the last six months is clear: Phonak Sphere Infinio is the pick for buyers whose main complaint is restaurant and group conversation, and who have ₹5.9 lakh+ to spend; Oticon Intent is the pick for buyers who dislike the compressed, processed feel of some AI aids and want music and birdsong to sound natural.
