Which costs less for a pair?
At similar budgets the two are close, with Lumity slightly cheaper at the entry level and Signia cheaper in the middle:
| Budget band (pair, MRP) | Signia Pure Charge&Go IX | Phonak Audéo Lumity |
|---|---|---|
| About ₹1.4 lakh | 1IX Kit ₹1,44,990 (16 channels) | L30-R ₹1,38,000 (12 channels) |
| About ₹2–2.4 lakh | 2IX Kit ₹2,04,990 (24 channels) | L50-R ₹2,40,000 (16 channels) |
| About ₹3.5–4.2 lakh | 3IX Kit ₹3,46,990 (32 channels) | L70-R ₹4,20,000 (20 channels) |
| Top level | 7IX Kit ₹7,69,990 (48 channels) | L90-R ₹6,30,000 (20 channels) |
Do not compare channel counts across brands. Signia and Phonak divide sound differently, so 16 Signia channels are not "better" than 12 Phonak channels. Compare the technology level and how each aid sounds to you. Signia's other advantage is the single-aid option: if only one ear needs help, Pure Charge&Go IX starts at ₹77,990.
Which is better in noisy places?
Both are strong, and they work differently. Signia's IX platform is built around RealTime Conversation Enhancement for group conversations. Phonak Lumity uses SmartSpeech Technology: StereoZoom 2.0 narrows its focus as noise rises, and SpeechSensor detects which direction speech is coming from.
Phonak reports that SpeechSensor gave up to 15% better understanding of speech from the side or behind, compared with fixed settings, for people with moderate to severe loss. Treat maker studies as a guide, not a promise. In practice, the higher technology levels of either brand are what make the real difference in busy restaurants.
Which is better for phone calls?
Phonak's main selling point has long been universal Bluetooth: Lumity pairs with Bluetooth-enabled devices, not only iPhones and specific Android phones. Signia covers iPhone, ASHA Android and LE Audio on the standard Pure Charge&Go IX, and its BCT IX version adds Bluetooth Classic for near-universal pairing, from ₹84,990 per ear MRP.
So if you have an older or less common phone, choose Lumity or Signia's BCT IX version. Our guide on hearing aids not connecting to a phone covers the common pairing problems.
Which lasts longer on a charge?
Signia states a figure: up to 36 hours with 5 hours of streaming for Pure Charge&Go BCT IX. Phonak's Audéo Lumity product page we checked does not state a runtime, so we confirm the current figure at your fitting. For most wearers, both are charged overnight and last a full day.
Who should choose which?
- Choose Signia Pure Charge&Go IX if you want the newer platform, need only one aid, want a telecoil version, or want the longest stated battery (BCT IX).
- Choose Phonak Audéo Lumity if you want Phonak's proven universal Bluetooth, prefer the Phonak sound and myPhonak app, or find the L30 pair price the best fit.
- Consider Phonak Infinio if you like Phonak but want its current generation; see our Signia vs Phonak brand guide.
