Oticon Intent

Intent is Oticon's flagship range, built on the new Sirius platform with a deep neural network and what Oticon calls 4D Sensor technology, which reads your head and body movement, your conversation and the room to judge what you are trying to listen to.

Oticon's whole philosophy is different from most brands: instead of narrowing hard onto one voice, it gives you access to the full sound scene so your brain can choose, which many people find more natural and less tiring. It is a rechargeable receiver-in-canal aid with Auracast-ready Bluetooth, in tiers 1 to 4 (1 is the top). Read this before buying: the open-sound approach suits some ears beautifully and others less, which is exactly why a trial matters.

What Intent is

A plain look at what this model actually gives you, based on Oticon's own spec sheet.

  • Style

    Flagship rechargeable RIC

A receiver-in-canal aid worn behind the ear with a thin wire to the canal, rechargeable with an overnight case.

  • Smart

    4D Sensor technology

Sensors read your head and body movement alongside the conversation and the room, so the aid adjusts to what you are actually trying to listen to, not just where it is loudest.

  • Sound

    Deep neural network, open sound

A neural network trained on millions of real scenes supports Oticon's open-sound approach: it gives you the whole sound picture rather than narrowing onto one voice, which many find more natural.

  • Connectivity

    Auracast-ready Bluetooth (LE Audio)

Streams calls and audio and is ready for Auracast broadcast audio in public venues as it rolls out in India.

  • Levels

    Tiers 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

The same family at falling feature and price levels. Intent 1 has the most support in complex scenes; lower tiers suit simpler lives for less.

  • App

    Oticon Companion app

Control, stream and get support through the app, with remote fine-tuning options.

Who it suits (and who should look elsewhere)

An honest fit check, so the money goes to the right device.

  • Good fit

You want a natural, open sound

If you dislike the 'tunnel' feeling of aids that clamp hard onto one voice, Oticon's open-sound approach keeps you aware of the whole room. For the right ear it is less tiring over a long day.

  • Good fit

    You move between many settings

The 4D sensors help as you move around, turn your head and shift between quiet and busy, so active days are where it shines.

  • Good fit

You want the newest Oticon chip

Intent is Oticon's current flagship on the Sirius platform. If you want the most future-ready Oticon, this is it.

  • Cross-shop

You want hard focus on one voice in heavy noise

If you specifically want the aid to lock onto a single talker in very loud rooms, Phonak's Sphere Infinio takes the opposite, narrower approach and may suit you better. Trial both.

  • Look elsewhere

Your days are mostly quiet and simple

If you are mainly at home one-to-one, you do not need the top tier. A lower Intent tier, or another brand's mid-range, serves you well for less.

  • Reminder

    It manages, not cures

Even the flagship manages your loss; it does not cure it. We say this plainly so expectations are right.

How Intent compares

Where Oticon's flagship sits next to the other premium aids we fit and the step down.

  • Step down

    Oticon Real

The previous Oticon generation, with the same open-sound philosophy and strong handling of sudden sounds and wind, at a lower price. A sensible step down if Intent is more than you need.

  • Different approach

    Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio

The opposite approach: it narrows hard onto one voice in loud noise with a dedicated chip. Cross-shop it if single-voice-in-noise is your one priority.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Oticon Intent cost in India?

Intent is a premium range and the price depends on the tier (1 to 4) and receiver you need. Rather than publish a figure that goes out of date, we confirm the current MRP at your appointment or on WhatsApp. At Prudent you get up to 20-30% off MRP, hearing aids are GST-exempt (HSN 9021) so there is no tax on top, and 0% EMI is available.

How is Oticon different from Phonak or Signia?

Oticon takes an open-sound approach: rather than narrowing hard onto a single voice, it gives you access to the whole sound scene so your brain can choose what to follow. Many people find this more natural and less tiring; some prefer the harder focus of brands like Phonak in very loud rooms. It genuinely varies by person, which is why we let you trial it.

What is the difference between Intent 1, 2, 3 and 4?

They are the same family at falling feature and price levels. Intent 1 gives the most support in complex, changing settings; 2 and 3 step down for less; 4 is the entry tier. Your audiologist matches the tier to how busy and varied your days actually are.

Does it have Bluetooth and Auracast?

Yes. Intent streams calls and audio over Bluetooth LE Audio and is ready for Auracast broadcast audio in public venues as that rolls out in India. It is rechargeable with an overnight case.

Should I choose the Intent or the older Oticon Real?

The Intent is the newer flagship with 4D sensors and the latest chip. The Real shares the same open-sound philosophy at a lower price and is a sensible step down if the Intent is more than you need. We can compare both in clinic.

Will it cure my hearing loss?

No hearing aid cures hearing loss, including the flagship. Intent manages your loss with an open, natural sound; the loss itself remains, which is why free lifetime re-tuning is included.
