Oticon Opn ITE hearing aid

The Oticon Opn ITE is a custom in-the-ear hearing aid, moulded to your own ear and built on Oticon's OpenSound platform — the generation that moved away from narrow "beam" hearing to a full, open sound scene. It suits people who want an aid that sits in the ear rather than behind it, for roughly mild to moderately-severe hearing loss. It is an older model now, so read on for an honest look and call us for current availability.

What the Oticon Opn ITE is

A quick, honest snapshot of the model by category. The Opn ITE dates from Oticon's OpenSound (Opn) generation, so we describe what it is rather than quote spec numbers that have since moved on.

Form factor

Custom in-the-ear (ITE)

Made from an impression of your own ear and worn in the ear, with no part sitting behind it. It comes in shell sizes from a fuller in-the-ear shape down to smaller in-canal shapes, chosen to match your ear and your hearing. This is the same custom family as Oticon's newer Own — the Opn was the earlier generation of it.

Standout tech

OpenSound Navigator

The signature of the Opn generation. Instead of narrowing you to one speaker in front, it scans your surroundings many times a second and rebalances them — easing noise while keeping you aware of voices all around you. It was Oticon's step towards giving the brain the full 360° scene, the idea that later grew into their Deep Neural Network models.

Power tier

Mild to moderately-severe loss

A custom in-the-ear shell is a good match for mild through moderate, and in a fuller shell moderately-severe, hearing loss. It is not a super-power device. Severe-to-profound loss is usually better served by a power behind-the-ear such as the Oticon Xceed — your audiogram decides.

Power source

Disposable battery, not rechargeable

This generation of Oticon custom in-the-ear runs on a disposable zinc-air battery, with the size set by how big your shell is. If a sealed rechargeable is important to you, that arrived on later Oticon behind-the-ear and receiver-in-ear models rather than the Opn ITE.

Connectivity

Direct iPhone streaming; Android via ConnectClip

The Opn platform uses 2.4 GHz wireless for direct made-for-iPhone streaming of calls and media. Android hands-free calling and streaming run through the ConnectClip accessory, and a TV Adapter streams your television. We confirm what works with your exact phone at the fitting.

Generation

An older platform (2016 era)

Opn launched in 2016 and was later followed by Opn S, then More, Real and today's Intent. So the Opn ITE is an older and likely discontinued model. It can still be a sensible, gentler-budget choice if a unit is available — but it is worth knowing where it sits before you decide.

Who it suits — and who should look elsewhere

No hearing aid is right for everyone, and the badge on the box matters far less than your hearing test. Here is an honest view of where the Opn ITE fits.

A good fit if

You want an aid that sits in the ear

You would rather have nothing looping over the top of your ear, your loss is in the mild to moderately-severe range, your ears and dexterity suit a custom shell and a small disposable battery, and you like Oticon's open, natural sound. If a well-fitted, discreet in-ear device is the goal, this is the kind of aid to consider.

Look elsewhere if

You need power, rechargeable or the newest chip

For severe-to-profound loss, a power behind-the-ear like the Oticon Xceed gives cleaner amplification. If you want the newest chip and Deep Neural Network processing in a custom shape, the current Oticon Own is the direct successor to the Opn ITE. A sealed rechargeable battery, though, is really a behind-the-ear or receiver-in-ear feature — Oticon's custom shells, Own included, still take disposable batteries — so tell us if rechargeability matters and we will show you the styles that offer it. Very small canals or heavy earwax can also make a custom shell impractical.

Decided by your test

Your audiogram leads, not the model name

A hearing aid manages hearing loss; it does not cure it. Whether the Opn ITE — or any aid — is right for you depends on the shape and degree of your loss, your ear anatomy and your daily listening, all measured at a proper hearing test before anyone recommends a model.

Price and value in India

Because the Opn ITE is an older model, we do not publish a fixed price for it — availability of genuine units varies, and quoting a made-up figure would not be fair to you. Here is how the value works, honestly.

Older model

Call for current availability & price

It is an older, likely discontinued model. Call Prudent Hearing on +91 9429690093 and we will tell you honestly whether a genuine Opn ITE is currently available and what it would cost — rather than quote a number that no longer reflects reality.

Tax

GST-exempt in India

Hearing aids are exempt from GST in India, so there is no tax added on top of the price you are quoted. That applies to every model we fit, this one included.

Savings

Up to 30–50% off MRP, 0% EMI

At Prudent you pay up to 30–50% off the manufacturer's MRP, and 0% EMI is available to spread the cost over months rather than paying it all at once.

Alternative

The current equivalent: Oticon Own

If you are buying a custom in-the-ear aid today, the current-generation equivalent is the Oticon Own — the newer custom ITE built on Oticon's on-board Deep Neural Network. We will show it against the Opn ITE side by side so you can weigh a lower older-model price against newer technology, no pressure either way.

How we fit the Oticon Opn ITE at Prudent

A custom in-the-ear aid is only as good as the ear impression, the shell fit and the programming behind it. This is what fitting one with us looks like.

Step 1

Free 45-minute hearing test

An RCI-registered audiologist measures your hearing, takes a full audiogram and gives you a written report — free, whether or not you buy anything. This is what tells us if a custom in-the-ear shape and this power level actually suit you.

Step 2

Real-ear-verified fitting

We take a careful ear impression for the shell, then programme the aid to your audiogram and verify it with real-ear measurement — checking the sound reaching your eardrum against your prescription, rather than trusting the default settings alone.

Step 3

A real in-clinic trial

You try the recommended aid on real speech and everyday sound before you commit. Hearing the difference for yourself matters far more than any spec sheet, and it is the only honest way to judge a model of this generation.

Step 4

Free lifetime programming & follow-up

Hearing changes over time, so we fine-tune, clean and support your aids for their working life at no extra charge, across our Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru clinics, with home visits available around those cities.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Oticon Opn ITE still available in India?

The Opn ITE is an older model from Oticon's 2016-era OpenSound generation and is likely discontinued, so availability of genuine new units varies. We would rather tell you the truth than quote a phantom price — call Prudent Hearing on +91 9429690093 and we will check current availability and, if it is not stocked, show you the current custom in-the-ear equivalent.

What is the modern equivalent of the Oticon Opn ITE?

For a custom in-the-ear aid today, the direct successor is the Oticon Own, released in 2022 as the update to Oticon's Opn custom line. It is the current custom ITE family and the first Oticon custom to carry an on-board Deep Neural Network. If you like the idea of the Opn ITE but want the newest technology, Own is the model to compare it against.

What degree of hearing loss does the Opn ITE suit?

As a custom in-the-ear aid, it generally suits mild to moderate loss, and moderately-severe loss in a fuller shell. It is not a super-power device — for severe-to-profound loss a power behind-the-ear such as the Oticon Xceed is usually the better choice. Your audiologist confirms the right power level from your audiogram at the free hearing test.

Is the Oticon Opn ITE rechargeable?

No. This generation of Oticon custom in-the-ear runs on a disposable zinc-air battery, with the size depending on how large your shell is. Sealed rechargeable batteries came to Oticon on later behind-the-ear and receiver-in-ear models — its custom shells, including the current Oticon Own, still use disposable batteries. If rechargeability matters to you, tell us and we will show you the styles that offer it at your free test.

Can the Opn ITE connect to my phone?

The Opn platform uses 2.4 GHz wireless for direct made-for-iPhone streaming of calls and media. For Android, hands-free calling and streaming run through Oticon's ConnectClip accessory, and a TV Adapter can stream your television. We will confirm exactly what works with your specific phone during the fitting.

How much does the Oticon Opn ITE cost at Prudent?

Because it is an older model, we do not publish a fixed price — the honest figure depends on whether a genuine unit is currently available. In general, hearing aids are GST-exempt in India, you get up to 30–50% off MRP at Prudent, and 0% EMI is available. Call +91 9429690093 for a straight answer on this model, or ask us to price the current equivalent.

Not sure the Opn ITE is right for you? Let's find out honestly.

Book a free 45-minute hearing test with an RCI-registered audiologist at our Pune, Delhi or Bengaluru clinics — or a home visit nearby. We will measure your hearing, tell you honestly whether the Oticon Opn ITE or a current model suits you, and let you trial it before you decide. Call +91 9429690093.
