Siemens to Signia — Brand Continuity Guide

Siemens Hearing Aids Are Now Signia: What It Means for Your Parent's Device

If your parent still wears an old Siemens hearing aid, the brand has not vanished. Siemens sold its hearing business in 2015, and it was renamed Signia in 2016. The same German engineering team, the same technology lineage, and the same repair pathways continue under the new name. In practice that means two things for your family: your parent's aid can usually still be serviced, and when it is time to move on, there is a direct Signia successor to almost every popular Siemens model. Remember that any hearing aid manages hearing loss — it does not cure it — so the goal is keeping your parent hearing well, whether by repair or upgrade.

Short answer: Siemens hearing aids are now Signia

Here is the plain version you can pass on to your parent. Siemens hearing aids were rebranded as Signia; none of the technology was thrown away. If the aid, box or warranty card says Siemens, it is simply an earlier generation of what is sold today as Signia.

Same company, new name

The hearing division that made your parent's aid still exists. It was renamed Signia and continues to design and support hearing aids the same way.

Reassurance

Not an obsolete or dead brand

A Siemens aid is not orphaned hardware. Because Signia is the direct successor, servicing, spares and upgrades stay within one family.

The story: why Siemens exited and Signia took over

Siemens is a large engineering conglomerate, and hearing aids were a small slice of it. In 2015 Siemens sold the hearing division to an investment group, which renamed it Signia in 2016. Today it operates under the parent company WS Audiology. For a family, the headline is continuity, not disruption.

2015 — Siemens sells hearing

Siemens divested its hearing aid business so it could focus on its core industrial and healthcare units.

2016 — Renamed Signia

The same product families and R&D continued, now under the Signia name and, later, the WS Audiology group.

Today — Signia continues

Signia is one of the eight brands we fit, alongside Phonak, Oticon, Widex, ReSound, Starkey, Unitron and Interton.

Can you still service or repair an old Siemens hearing aid?

In most cases, yes. Genuine Siemens aids from roughly the last decade can often be cleaned, retubed, refitted and reprogrammed. Parts availability depends on how old the model is. Very old analogue aids or units with internal water damage may be beyond economical repair, and we will tell you that honestly rather than charge you for a lost cause.

What we can usually fix

Wax blockages, split tubing, worn receivers, faulty battery doors, and re-programming to match current hearing. Many Siemens BTE and RIC aids respond well.

Hearing aid repair

When repair is not worth it

If the model is very old, spares are discontinued, or the circuit is water-damaged, a repair can cost more than it is worth. We will say so before you spend.

Home visit

You may not even need to travel

In Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru we can assess and often collect the aid during a home visit, which is easier if your parent tires quickly.

The modern Signia equivalents of popular old Siemens models

Signia kept the model families that Siemens built, so if you know your parent's old model there is usually a clear modern counterpart in the same wearing style. The big change is that most successors are now rechargeable and Bluetooth-enabled. Bring the old aid in and we will match both the style and the hearing profile — we will not guess specs we cannot confirm.

Siemens Pure / Motion

The behind-the-ear and receiver-in-canal Pure and Motion lines continue as Signia Pure Charge&Go and Motion Charge&Go, now with rechargeable batteries.

Signia Pure Charge&Go

Siemens Insio (custom in-ear)

Custom in-the-ear and in-the-canal Insio aids continue as the modern Signia Insio family, moulded to your parent's ear.

Siemens Ace / small discreet aids

The demand for tiny, discreet aids is now served by Signia Silk and Signia Active, which are near-invisible and quick to fit.

Should you repair the Siemens aid or upgrade to Signia?

This is the real question for most families. The answer depends on the aid's age, your parent's current hearing, and how often they actually wear it. A repair makes sense if the aid is under about five years old and still suits their hearing. An upgrade makes sense if hearing has changed, the aid whistles or sounds tinny, or it mostly sits in a drawer.

Lean towards repair if…

The aid is under roughly five years old, your parent's hearing is stable, and they wear it happily most days. A service can restore it for far less than a new pair.

Lean towards upgrade if…

Hearing has slipped, the aid buzzes or sounds thin, or your parent avoids it. Modern Signia rechargeables also remove the fiddly button-battery struggle.

Denial help

Handling a parent's denial

If your father insists 'it still works fine', a free hearing test settles it with numbers instead of an argument. It is the calmest way to make the case.

Frequently asked questions

Is Siemens still making hearing aids?

No. Siemens sold its hearing aid business in 2015, and it was renamed Signia in 2016. It now sits under WS Audiology. The technology and engineering team carried over, so Signia is the direct successor to Siemens rather than a rival brand.

Can my parent's old Siemens hearing aid still be repaired in India?

Usually yes, if it is roughly within the last decade. We can clean, retube, replace receivers and battery doors, and reprogram many Siemens models. Very old or water-damaged aids may not be economical to fix, and we will tell you honestly before you spend anything.

What is the Signia equivalent of a Siemens Pure or Motion?

Signia continued both families. A Siemens Pure or Motion typically maps to a modern Signia Pure Charge&Go or Motion Charge&Go, now with rechargeable batteries and Bluetooth. Bring the old aid in and we will match the wearing style and hearing profile precisely rather than guess.

How much does a Signia hearing aid cost in India?

It varies widely by technology level, so we avoid quoting a single figure. Hearing aids are GST-exempt, and we offer up to 30–50% off MRP and 0% EMI. Call or WhatsApp +91 9429690093 for an exact quote for your parent's needs.

Do we have to replace both aids, or can you service just one?

You can service or upgrade a single aid. If only one side has failed and hearing is otherwise stable, a one-ear repair or replacement is fine. We test both ears first so you are never upsold on hardware your parent does not need.

Can you visit my parent at home?

Yes. We offer home visits in Pune, Delhi and Bengaluru for the hearing test, fitting and follow-up programming. It is ideal for parents who find clinic trips tiring or who are reluctant to go out.

Not sure whether to repair or upgrade? Let us look at it first.
